Fireman Hooper’s ‘Bad Company’ Soars

Streaming ignites!

On Saturday, July 6th, Fireman Hooper’s performance of “Bad Company” at Carnival City in Victoria Park, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, earned him his 13th Soca Monarch title and a prize of 60,000 EC (approximately 22,000 USD). Released just over six weeks ago, “Bad Company,” produced by Karbon Jamz, carries a message for the youth to “…keep from bad company,” echoing the wisdom of previous generations.

The impact of his Soca Monarch victory on “Bad Company” is already evident in its streaming performance. Upon release, the song entered the Apple Music (World) chart in St. Vincent & the Grenadines at #64. By mid-June, “Bad Company” had climbed to #133 on the Apple Music (All Genres) chart in Vincy. The day after the competition, “Bad Company” rose to #103 on the All Genres chart, and by July 11th, it reached its highest position so far at #21 on the same chart.

The Soca Monarch win and the ensuing publicity significantly boosted “Bad Company’s” reach and exposure, extending beyond Vincy to the broader Caribbean region. On July 7th, the day following the Soca Monarch competition, “Bad Company” peaked at #2 on iTunes (All Genres) in Grenada. On July 11th, the song debuted on the Grenada Apple Music (World) chart at #162 and has been steadily climbing since. On the same day, it also made its first appearance on the Anguilla Apple Music (World) Top 200 chart at #116. Additionally, on Spotify, “Bad Company’s” daily streams have tripled since Fireman Hooper became the 2024 Soca Monarch.

This underscores the considerable impact that major music competitions, like the Vincy Soca Monarch, can have on boosting the visibility and reach of standout songs, both within the Caribbean and internationally.

Congratulations to Fireman Hooper and his team on this achievement.
