Over 30, but who’s counting?

Vincy Bad Boy Problem Child released a slew of Soca Music in 2022.

Over the course of the past year, Problem Child has released on average almost 3 songs per month – and that is just counting those that he performs.  If we count the songs that he wrote for other Soca Artists as well as the songs he Executive Produced, there would be well over 50 songs influenced by Problem Child for 2022.

In May a wave of 10 songs were released and another 7 more would follow before the summer end.  This significant volume of 17 songs released, also coincided with the summer Carnival cycle – at least 7 different Carnival destinations: Bermuda Carnival, Vincy Mas, Saint Lucia Carnival, Barbados Crop Over, Caribana in Toronto, Grenada Carnival and Notting Hill Carnival, were all ready to welcome the new Soca Music.

Songs released during this period include the hit Danger (with Skinny Fabulous) produced by Linwall Patterson & Philippe Joseph which has nearly 100k streams on Spotify to date.  The song also peaked at #1 in Barbados on iTunes (All Genres)  and #10 on Apple Music (Reggae) in his native Saint Vincent & Grenadines in July.  Also in July, the Vincy appetite for Butter increased; produced by Vincy native Added Rankin, the song landed as high as #9 on Apple Music (All Genres).  During the Bermuda Carnival, 5 different songs from Problem Child landed on the Bermuda iTunes (Reggae) chart: Home Alone by Samwick ‘Swick B’ Bruce and Dey Calling Meh by Marcus Frederick, both hit #2, Pull Your Own Weight by Keem Productions landed at #3 and, Mad Jam by DJ Avalanche & No Chupidness by DJ Avalanche & Mr. Legz came in at #5.

With over 30 songs created by more than 20 different producers, we find a tremendous amount of diversity in the sounds from power to groovy soca vibes.

Producers that created multiple songs with Problem Child include his Vincy brethren Fryktion with whom he delivered 4 songs, all with a sexy Soca vibe.  Just Dance, the MM (Machel Montano) collaboration released in January ’22, would go on to become the biggest song of the 30 along with Why, which is currently trending as one of Problem’s top songs of the group.  Samwick ‘Swick B’ Bruce, the producer with the most Problem songs this past year – (5) –  notably created For all ah dem, pt. 2 which was released in April 2022 as a continuation of For all ah dem created in May 2015 by Fryktion. Kyle “DJ Ky” Walcott created another three 3 songs, 4 if you include the clean and dirty versions of Move Ya Ram Goat & Move Ya Rasshole another collaboration, this time with Mole De Chief.  DJ Avalanche also produced 3 songs including the hit Damage, with Terra D. Governor released in June ’22.

When counting only the new body of work created – between Dec 1, 2021 – Nov 30, 2022 – by Problem Child and for him to perform, we count 500,000 streams on Spotify and peaking on the Apple Music/iTunes charts in nearly 20 countries.

With more than 2 albums of work released in one year, indeed Problem is a Problem!
