Aaron Duncan, Birthplace, nah leavin’ yuh

Birthplace resonates at home and abroad.

Aaron Duncan’s latest track, Birthplace, a tribute to national pride and unity, was released in mid-October and has been climbing charts across platforms, at home and abroad.

In a recent interview, Aaron noted the inspiration behind the track: “I feel like we missing the kind of love that’s what we need to come back, that support for Soca music, that support for our culture.” The refrain, “nah leavin,” serves as both a catchy sing-along and an ode to national pride and love, and soca fans are responding.

On Apple Music (World), Birthplace has quickly become his highest-charting track in several Caribbean markets: Dominica (#13), Antigua & Barbuda (#27), his native Trinidad & Tobago (#27), Grenada (#39), and Suriname (#98), where it has broken into the Top 100 this week. Additional chart entries bring the total to 13 countries on Apple Music, signaling a broad regional footprint.

On iTunes (World), the song debuted at #52 in the United States and reached #11 in Sweden.

Spotify data further underscores the track’s momentum, marking it as Aaron’s fastest-growing track on the platform. With the majority of his Spotify listeners based in London, Toronto, and New York City, Birthplace’s daily stream rate is already over 10% higher than his 2023 track “Darlin’.”

The track’s growing Spotify streams internationally, combined with Apple Music traction in Trinidad & Tobago, demonstrate that Birthplace is resonating with listeners at home and abroad, connecting on both a cultural and musical level. It seems the people are singing along with Aaron on this one: “tell them ah nah leavin’, ah cyah do it.”
